Tea please!

I love tea. I cannot get enough of the stuff. Even in the hottest and most humid weather I still love a cup of good old english breakfast tea (milk, no sugar). It seems I’m not alone. According to The Empire of Tea, after water, tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world.

Aside from tasting great, tea has many potential health benefits such as reducing the risk of cancers, increasing metabolic rates, protecting against cardiovascular disease and stroke, plus many more.

The majority of studies on tea and its health benefits however are focused on green tea, with many suggesting that its properties aid in weightloss. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a compound in green tea, is known to be a powerful antioxidant which may be responsible for its fat burning properties. EGCG has been found to stimulate the metabolism and accelerate weight loss and many studies have concluded that its properties not only burn fat but should be considered as a valuable and natural treatment for obesity.

If you are looking to lose weight, I would definitely recommend trying out a cup of green tea after each main meal! You have nothing to lose – except excess body fat!
